So this Gary Chapman guy wrote a pink book called "The Five Love Languages". I haven't read it but they basically give the entire gist away on the website. I'm a bit dismayed that it's overly religious (What? only Christians can love correctly?), but it does hammer in the often overlooked truth that we are all different and demonstrate affection in different ways. Heh, and also, it does cast gold-diggers in a different light (they just need money direct deposited into their bank accounts to feel loved):)
Interesting stuff, and I can see this book being very helpful to couples that have a hard time identifying what's wrong, and is a WHOLE lot more helpful than the more ubiquitous "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" one size fits all approach.
Anyway, here is the list of the 5
Languages of Love:
Words of Affirmation (Compliments)
Quality Time
Receiving Gifts
Acts of Service
Physical Touch
But wait, there's more! It also throws in a bonus 5 Languages of Apology
Expressing Regret
Accept Responsibility
Make Restitution
Genuinely Repent
Request Forgiveness
Just click through the links above to read full descriptions of each. To find your personal love language, try this quiz. It won't be surprising to you, but it might be a complete shock to your significant other. Enjoy :)
