I've spent pretty much my entire trip to Vancouver being fulltime chaperone and chauffeur to my mom. My dad specifically told me to not let her get any tattoos, shave her head or even stay out past 8pm, so I've been watchin her like a hawk :) So when my cousin's gf C was dropping something off at the house and asked if I wanted to come with her for a few drinks with her friends, I thought it was kinda funny that moms was shooing me out the door... "yes, you're a good son.. go drink tonight!".
There were 2 groups meeting up at Century House: An early group of all girls, and a later group of all dudes. C mistakenly assumed that I'd want to wait to go with the all-sausage team because I might be uncomfortable hanging with all girls. I chuckled and told her I would much rather talk tampons all night than be part of the "Wall of Dudes" that inevitably forms between the dance floor and the bar. Hehe, actually the reason was because I didn't have going out clothes with me. She thought I would slip in unnoticed amongst the guys, but I convinced her that my chances of beating a dress code are 10000% better amongst girls.
It was a fun night. I got to get out of the house and walk around Vancouver a bit, hung out with C and met her friends, I won an "award" for best sense of humor by some bachelorette party, and even bumped into an old acquaintance from SF. Couldn't have been better if I had planned it... Got home, drank a whole bunch of water, and set my alarm clock. Tomorrow, it's back to the "grind". :)
